The groundbreaking iPhone X introduced the biggest changes that Apple has ever made to its mobile devices and the biggest change was perhaps removing the home button. The phone button had been the only button on the front side of the phone and of course the most important button. This button was used to return to home screen, take screenshots, open multitask view and a lot more. If you are used to the old iPhone home button, you may find it a little difficult at first to work with iPhone X home button. If it is so, this tutorial here will help you with some basic tips on how you can use your iPhone X.
How to unlock iPhone X
Apple has done nothing to make using your phone difficult. Waking your phone from sleep or unlocking it is as simple as it used to be. All you need to do is to pick up the phone and swipe up from the bottom on the screen.
Depending on your security settings, you will then need to unlock your phone. If you have not set a password for your iPhone, you will be taken to the home screen by swiping up. If you do have a passcode, Face ID will recogonize your face and will take you to the home screen. If you have a passcode and you don’t use Face ID, you will then need to enter the code. So, no matter what your security settings are, you will not need iPhone X home button to unlock your phone as you will just need to swipe up.
Return to home screen on iPhone X
If you are familiar with how an iPhone works, you probably know that by pressing on the home button, you will be taken to the home screen no matter where you are. But how can we return to home screen considering that iPhone X home button is removed?
Returning to home screen on iPhone X is as simple as it used to be on any other iPhone. What you need to do is to make a very short swipe from the bottom of the screen to the top (remember a longer swipe will do something else). This little swipe will take you out of any app that you are using and you will be taken to the home screen.
Open multitasking view on iPhone X
On earlier versions of iPhone, you could just tap tap the home button to view the multitasking view. But how can we do that considering that iPhone X home button is removed?
Multitasking view feature is still available on iPhone X, but accessing it is a little different. What you need to do is to swipe up from the button to the top about a third of the way. Doing this could be a little tricky at first because it is similar to the short swipe which takes you to the home screen but you will learn to master it after a while. When you swipe up correctly, your iPhone will vibrate and your apps will appear at the left. You can swipe between them and choose any app that you would like to use.
Switching between apps without opening multitasking view
iPhone X home button is removed and this has created a new functionality for iPhone users. This feature does not exist on other models of iPhone. This feature allows you to switch between apps without the need to open the multitask view. On the bottom of the screen, near the bottom line, swipe left or right. This swipe will allow you to jump between apps. This is a much faster way to switch between apps in comparison to the mutitasking view.
Use reachability without iPhone X home button
Our smartphones screens are bigger than ever before. A bigger screen can give the user a better experience, but it would be more difficult to reach the items which are placed on top of the screen.
Reachability feature was first introduced with iPhone 6 series. A quick double-tap on the home screen will bring the screen down so it would be easier for your thumb to access the items on top of the screen.
Although there is no iPhone X home button, reachability is still an option on this phone. This feature is turned off by default and you will need to go to Settings > General > accessibility > Reachiablity to turn this option on.
Once you have activated this option, you can swipe down near the bottom line to bring the screen down and within your reach.

Control Center on iPhone was a new handy feature which was added in iOS 11 and offer a set of useful tools and shortcuts. On other models, you could access the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom. But since swiping up on iPhone X does a number of different tasks, there is other way you should use to open control center on your iPhone X.
