Do all Businesses support Google Maps messaging by default?
Actually all businesses do not support Google Maps messaging by default. By the mean the feature is somehow optional so that the businesses are going to need to enable it if they wish so. We expect that over time we witness more and more businesses support messaging.
But is it good to make the feature optional? It seems a good decision since businesses need to have the Google My Business app installed to reply to messages anyways, and without that, their customer’s message would stay unread and it might not seem so good. So considering this businesses will need to activate the feature for their customers to be able to contact them through Google Maps application.
A business that wants to join Google Maps messaging will need to use Google’s “My Business” verification system and install the app to send and receive messages.
How is Google Maps messaging useful?
In case you need to ask a store or a restaurant a quick question that it is not included in their website or where you need specific information about a local store or company, such as opening and closing times, that you can’t find anywhere online, instead of willing to wait for the answer by calling them and sit and wait for answers, you can use Google Maps messaging easy and fast.
Since the new feature does not allow users to contact and chat with friends or family, you do not need to engage with messages when you are trying to go through directions and navigation.
