In most countries including France Whatsapp is a very popular platform for communication. However, nowadays security has become a big issue for people and the governments. You can’t really trust all applications to be completely safe. After rumors concerning that foreign agents could use other messaging applications to spy on conversations, French government has decided to create a Whatsapp Clone.
In France Whatsapp cxlone is on its way
Most government officials rely on modern-day technology to keep each other updated on important matters and France is not an exception. But concerns are growing fast that even the reputed secure and encrypted networks are no longer safe enough for governmental communication. So, on the same day that Telegram – one of the few encrypted messaging apps – got blocked in Russia, France announced it was to build its own messaging app.
Whether it’s possible to hack Whatsapp or not is another question. However, the fact that people are worried about their privacy on social messaging apps is our concern. In France, Whatsapp clone is being built. The app is totally free-to-use and heavily encrypted. Moreover, by winter all government employees will be able to use the service.
Whatsapp clone security
French government needed to make sure about the safety. So they built the data centers in France. This way they can improve the defenses whenever needed. According to a French spokeswoman, almost 20 French government officials are now testing this France Whatsapp application.
To improve national interests protection, this Whatsapp clone is not going to be end-to-end encrypted. This means that the government will have access to some certain messages. Since the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, is very fond of the new app we predict that it is actually going to better protect France’s interests.
Why France is creating an alternative for Whatsapp
The spokeswoman said: “we need to find a way to have an encrypted messaging service that is not encrypted by the United States or Russia”. She added. “You start thinking about the potential breaches that could happen, as we saw with Facebook, so we should take the lead.” They highly insist that they want a messaging application that is not encrypted by the United States or Russia.
The most important reason why in France Whatsapp alternative is needed is because of Facebook. Facebook has been the owner of Whatsapp since 2014. After Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal french government can not rely on Whatsapp. More importantly, Whatsapp had some stories about data security in the past. Hackers have been able to access Whatsapp data and break into group conversations.
