iPhone 3D Touch feature is the pressure-sensitive feature which is similar to Apple Watch Force Touch. You can perform a 3D Touch on any icon on your iPhone to see the 3D Touch shortcut menus. You will be amazed to see how handy this feature is and how it can help you to do things faster on your device. The 3D Touch shortcuts appear to be totally fine but there are things you can do to edit and customize the menus. In this article I will tell you how to change 3D Touch settings and customize the menus.
How to edit 3D Touch shortcut menus for Phone
You can simply change change the contacts listed in Phone’s 3D Touch shortcut menu. The three contacts that appear on your phone shortcut menu are simply your favorite contacts. If you would like to change them, go to Phone > Favorites and you can see your favorite contacts. If the contacts that you want to appear in the 3D Touch shortcut menus are there, tap Edit and move the 3 ones you want up in the list.
Now if you want to add someone to your 3D Touch shortcut menu which is not in your favorites, here is how you can do that. Go to Contacts and find the contact you would like to add. Scroll down and tap on Add to Favorites. And that’s it!
change the contacts listed in the 3D Touch shortcut menus for FaceTime and Messages
Messages and FaceTime do things different from Phone. FaceTime shows the three contacts that you have called most recently. So if you would like to change that list, you need to call someone. When you make a call, that person’s name will appear on the list.
Messages are exactly the same as FaceTime. Your most recent conversations will appear in the list. So there is no trick to change that. However, you can text someone and you will see their name appear in the list. Also, if you delete a conversation thread, the name of that contact will also be deleted from your shortcut menu.
It would be nice if you could make changes to menus for other apps such as Settings for example. but unfortunately, it is not possible to do that for now. May be in future. You can try experimenting on your shortcut menus and find changes that you could not find here.
