The steps to close applications on iPhone
First you need to double-press the Home button to open the app switcher. (Don’t just tap it, you should press it.) You’ll get a series of icons and app thumbnails you can swipe through. If you want to switch to another app, simply tap on the app’s icon or thumbnail.
In order to close applications on iPhone click on just swipe up on the app’s thumbnail until you flick it off of the screen. This way you can close one app or all of them. If an applications still eats up too much data or battery you can simply turn off background app refresh for that app. First open the Settings tap General, then tap Background App Refresh. Find the troublesome app, the slide the slider next to its name to the “off” position.

You know that iPhone x does not have a Home button so in orders to close applications on iPhone x first you need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen – the small line which shows where the X’s ‘virtual Home button’ can be accessed. Keep in mind that swiping up and letting go will take you to the Home screen, so instead swipe up and hold your finger on the screen for a moment. The app switcher screen will appear.
Long-press anywhere on the screen, and after a moment a little red circle with a minus sign will appear at the top left corner of each app. Now you are able to close the applications you want. Therefore, you can swipe up or simply click on the red circle on it.
